Frequently asked questions

Are you a registered breeder?

Yes, we are registered with MDBA (Master dog breeders and associates) member number 28361 prefix- Braidoch and registered with our local council- member number: DACO244558

Are you a kennel?

No, all of our dogs & puppies are raised in our home without the use of cages and have free run of the house and yard.

Are the dogs cross breeds because they are coloured?

No! Coloured Boston Terriers are not crossed with anything to produce colour. The colour comes from the dilute gene which is found in the DNA of the Boston Terrier. Colours are dilutes of the 'Standard' coloured Boston terrier such as a blue & white Boston Terrier comes from a dilute of the black & white Boston terrier.

Do you health test?

Yes, all of our dogs are tested for JHC (Juvenile hereditary cataracts), DM (degenerative myelopathy), BAER (hearing test for deafness) and patellas. We make sure any stud we may use from other breeders have had all appropriate testing.

What is partial desexing?

Partial desexing is a vasectomy for a male or tubal ligation for female. This means they can't reproduce but still keep their sex hormones so the puppies can grow to their full potential. Males will still have their testicles females may still have heat cycles.

Do you have a waitlist?

Yes, we prefer to have a waitlist for all upcoming litters.

Why is there a waitlist fee?

We have a waitlist fee in place to ensure serious buyers only. It's also gives adequate time for the buyer to prepare for when the puppy is ready to be placed on hold. If the buyers circumstances change during this time, the waitlist fee is fully refundable. This also gives us enough time to find another buyer before puppies are ready to be placed on hold. The waitlist fee of $150 is deducted from the total purchase price for a puppy.

Why do i need to pay a puppy holding fee?

A puppy holding fee is required to secure a chosen puppy. The holding fee also contributes to caring for the puppy such as feeding, vet visits, ect.

Is the puppy holding fee refundable?

The puppy holding fee is non-refundable regardless of circumstances. Our first obligation is to our pups and when a buyer backs out last minute we are left with a puppy without a home. This is why we have a refundable waitlist fee that is paid first incase of a ‘change of mind’ before a puppy is placed on hold and ‘off the market’.

Can i purchase a puppy if im not in SA?

Yes we can send a puppy anywhere in Australia. We prefer to use a pet courier via road. Any transport is at buyers expense.

Can i come to view the puppies?

For security reasons, only those who have paid for a puppy in full will be allowed to view puppies once they are 6weeks old.
